Aqualyx is an injectable treatment used for body contouring, specifically for reducing the appearance of localized pockets of fat on the body. It is made from a modified form of Deoxycholic Acid, which naturally occurs in the human body and is needed to break down fats for intestinal absorption. When the needle reaches the adipose layer, a fat-dissolving solution is injected, causing the fat cells to liquefy, and be eliminated by the body through the lymphatic system, liver, and kidneys.

However, the treatment is not suitable for those with a significant overhang of loose tissue, as the area requires a strong blood supply.
1. Treatment —
PROCEEDURE
The procedure involves a full consultation to assess the patient's suitability for the treatment, explain the procedure, outline risks, gain consent, and manage expectations. The treatment area is mapped with a grid pattern, and a topical anaesthetic cream is applied for approximately 25 minutes before treatment. AQUALYX is then injected directly into the subcutaneous fat tissue in the treatment area using a thin and flexible needle. Patients may be advised to wear pressure garments for a short period of time to enhance the results.

2. Treatment —
TIMES & INTERVALS
The treatment time is typically 30-60 minutes, and 3-5 treatments may be required for body areas, while 1-3 treatments may be needed for facial areas. Treatment intervals should be spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
